All Saints has Christian Education programming for all ages,
including our Sunday School, junior high and high school youth, and adults.
SUNDAY SCHOOL for preschoolers to 5th graders
Children from the age of 3 through those entering 5th grade are still invited
to come up for the children's sermon during the second service and then follow
their teachers down to the Sunday School classes. The students meet in a large
group to learn a prayer, and then move to small groups to study the day's lesson.
Our SPARK curriculum is great, following the same Bible lessons
that the congregation reviews in church, which makes it easier to carry God's
Word home with us. We ask that all Sunday School participants register for
safety purposes. Registration forms are available in the main office. Contact
Sunday School superintendent Karen Mildner through the church office if you
have any questions.
Thank you to everyone who supported the Toy and Clothing Sale. We made over $500
dollars with your help, and half of the proceeds will go to the Northern Illinois
Center for Autism, located in Lake in the Hills, IL. Thanks again!!
CONFIRMATION
What is confirmation?
It is a time for children of God to explore and grow in their faith.
Who is involved in confirmation classes?
Everyone is welcome to participate in confirmation classes. Youth tend to begin
the program in sixth grade; however the program is open to all children of God.
Pastor Nathan and Youth Ministry and Christian Education Director, Christina
Garrett, lead the large group sessions of the class. Additional leadership
comes from small group leaders, who serve as mentors in large group activities
and guides in small group discussion.
What are the common topics they discuss?
We use Here We Stand for our confirmation curriculum, which covers sections
of Luther's Small Catechism: Ten Commandments, Apostles' Creed, Lord's Prayer,
Holy Baptism and Holy Communion, the Bible: Old and New Testaments and Lutheran
Theology and Doctrine. We apply these topics to our everyday lives in large
group and small group time.
Confirmation meets on Wednesdays from 6:30-8pm. Each unit is 10 weeks
long, plus a celebration review night, retreats, lock-ins, and other fellowship
events. We also serve the church during Advent and Lent midweek services by
being acolytes, ushers, and Lenten meal helpers. At the end of June, our
confirmands attend Living Waters confirmation camp for a week at Lutherdale
Bible Camp in Elkhorn, WI. If you or someone you know is interested in
learning more about our confirmation program or would like to join the
program, contact Christina Garrett, Director of Youth Ministry and Christian
Education, at the church office.
JUNIOR HIGH YOUTH
Thank you for serving at the soup suppers and midweek worship services during
Lent. You did a fantastic job! Don't forget that confirmation class resumes April 7th!
SENIOR HIGH YOUTH
High school youth are enjoying the bible study "Follow: Walk in the Rhythm of
Jesus". We meet on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7pm at a youth
group member's house. Join us as we get to know who Jesus really was and what
it means to follow him.
ADULT OPPORTUNITIES
This New Year brings two new bible studies for adults at All Saints!
Sunday mornings at 11:15am: Learn about 2 John and 3 John. We will learn more
about John and uncover each of the book's chapters through discussion and a
Q&A worksheet. Our next series will be "From Beginning to End: Studies in Revelation".
Contact Christina Garrett or Virginia Kelley if you're interested.
Tuesday mornings at 9am: Women's Bible Study on Unveiling Mary Magdalene.
This study will be held at a church member's house, so please contact Christina
Garrett for more information.
